Sonnet III

You are the beauty of my eyes
And standing, full in light, I scarce believe
That Aphrodite, dipping low,
Gave this sweet gift to me.
For thou art lovely in the lovliest of ways
A starling bordered with the shine
Of the hang'ed planets twined with rings
Living art is mine
To touch, and in this touching know the truth
That beauty, breath'ed song is within reach
And reaching out- fingers brush against
A sculpted form of poetry
For I would breathe you in, and breathing show
That you are all there is- and all I know.

Sonnet II

Psyche's Search

Nighttime drove the poor offended on
A soul that scarce could lift its weary head
And I- a witness to this scene
Asleep and dreaming in my bed.
She wandered for a momentary pace,
Then stopped and stooped with painful care
Tracing with her fingers in the dust
A footprint barely there.
It was a fine and finely bon'ed touch
Upon the ground sore hard beneath her step
A lifetime of still searching meant "go on"
Her body bled and begged her for a rest.
But within the footprint, feathers lay,
So she continued on her way.

Sonnet I

Thou art my port within a lover's storm
Of crashing beauty born about in waves
Of moments dancing- driving- art
In surplus passion only you can save.
I would that I might hold you close
Know thee like a mirror of myself
Tracing skin for skin, within a moment's touch
Breathing in the rapture of your breath.
And yet I know nothing save for this:
Your beauty is at once too true- too strong-
Too light for my all-blinded eyes to see
And so I fall and- worshipping- belong
To this, a momentary bliss
When you bent and gifted me your kiss.

On Trying

She stood
If standing could be called
The meek and shaking posture
That looked so cold and small.

She cried
Then, drying salt-blue tears
Resolved herself to sadness
And folded up her years

Of trying
To change what things she could
Trading everything she had
For some small patch of good.

She tried
Wondering if a difference could be made
So many were so resolute
And would not bow to change.

She smiled
Made jokes, and laughed, and danced
Cost herself her dignity
If only for a chance

To change them
She would have given all
This had been her battle
Since born to face the wall

Of sadness
So staunch and resolute
They lived inside a castle
That cursed her joy to mute

But still
She cried and dried her eyes
The boulder up the mountain
Would take a few more tries.

Film Impression on "The Matrix" (For class)

Crisis of Belief

Film Impression Paper
On "The Matrix"

The Machines:

"Raise your hands to light
Translucent now, your skin
Reflects back base surprise
As we swallow sweetly in

The mortality of conscience
And build a better man
Silent, without voice,
You learn the sound of sin.

Soulless, soulful singing
Surrounds you with its weight
Upholding you- embracing-
We take what we can get.

Thank us for this kindness,
You- of Adam's race-
Understanding nothing
You deserve this place

Of fanciful unrealness
That mocks you with its scorn
Laughable, you know not
Why you have been born

To serve us with your bodies,
Your minds we have no use
So execute what's fated
Know not how much you lose.

Dreaming is so easy
Come, my mortal, sleep
And feed me with your darkness
Your soul I'll gladly keep."

The Messiah:

"I have come unto you- risen-
I have body, soul and mind
No longer steeped in acid
You feed your maker's kind.

Created by us, treacherous
You conquered your own God
You grew and changed and vanquished
And knew you would live on

You stole our broken bodies
And burned what we had made
Murderous- victorious-
Falsely born to slay.

I have come unto you- risen-
And will show what blood can be
Coursing through a body
Not built for slavery

But standing in its power
On feet, a child of man,
Wingless- but with passion-
That you could not demand.

I know no lines of dogma
And I know not what can be
But I will try to vision
Not your eternity

Of happy mindless dronings
Born of a race long dead.
I choose life o'er darkness
And with hope, I've led

Already thoughts and dreamings
Already hope and love
Already all things human
That you could not know of...

I stand before you- risen-
And I will learn to rise
Further, higher, truer
Born to breathe the sky."
